Hallo Berlin!

Stuart is pleased to announce his first shows in Germany.  He’s going to be playing with Lianne Hall at Ä bar in Berlin on the 12th June and then again in Berlin on the 13th June at BKA Theater.  Spannend!  Check the ‘live page’ for more details.  Do go along and give Stuart a big German welcome if you are lucky enough to be a Berlinite.

Hello…  a quick note to say that Stuart is featured as Download of the week in today’s Argus newspaper - which is our local Brighton paper.  You can download ‘Bird’s That Don’t Fly’ from their link… but you already have this anyway since you’ve all bought The Butcher’s Voice right? Right?!

Also, all those super trendy hipsters with record players, who pre-ordered the vinyl should now be getting them through our royal postage system.  Sorry for the delay but we hope you think it’s been worth the wait… I must say I am particularly fond of the ‘Also Available’ artworks… ‘Music For Fertility Clinics’?  Yes please!

Stuart was back ‘in the studio’ (i.e. Aidan’s bedroom) again this weekend recording some new material for what he has said will be ‘b-sides’ for some future releases.  He’s also hinted that (fingers crossed) there will be a special valentine’s present.. watch this space for more on that.

A few more glowing reviews for The Butcher’s Voice…

Stuart Warwick perfectly displays the power of a particularly human approach to songwriting.” - Sputnikmusic.com

His new record The Butcher’s Voice would be the perfect soundtrack to an autobiographical indie movie/rock opera, set against the glittering lights of the seafront pier. This album is delicious, dark and dramatic…In this digital age, The Butcher’s Voice feels like a truly human record. Stuart Warwick allows us not only to hear, but also to feel how tender his flesh really is.” - The405.com

And the first European date announced - Stuart will be playing with Lianne Hall at the A Bar, Berlin on Wednesday 12th June.

For those who have ordered or want to buy the limited edition vinyl… good news it’s now very close to being ready.  I’ve actually been lucky enough to listen to the test pressing and it sounds amazing.  Should be shipped/available around the 12th February - order direct from Faux Discs or Stuart’s Bandcamp.  Last plug for the last last few ‘pop up’ CDs - now only available from Resident Records in Brighton (but they will post to you if you aren’t lucky enough to live in our sea side town).

It’s been a pretty good week for Stuart - The Butcher’s Voice came out on Monday to the usual online places - iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.  If you want to get a physical release you can order CD or LP from Stuart’s bandcamp site.  However, if you are local to Brighton and want to get hold of one of the (very possibly) last few copies of the very special 3D ‘pop-up’ version then get yourself quick-smart to the brilliant Resident Records in the North Laine as there are a few copies Stuart specially made for them to sell.

There’s also been a flurry of reviews.  Thanks to all the reviewers and blogs who’ve covered the album.  It’s difficult for an artist like Stuart who does everything without any backing from a label to be heard in a crowded marketplace.  So, thanks to everyone supporting, reviewing and sharing the music.

Here are some of the reviews I’ve spotted:

Drowned in Sound

Glasswerk National

The Sound of Confusion

Bowlegs Music

Sound Advice

Stuart is also Artist of the Week over on Right Chord Music and he’s done a little interview on their podcast which you can listen to here.

Oh, and he’s done a very interesting interview with friend and hunky teen author James Dawson here.

Stuart is planning a European tour.  If you think you might be able to help out with suggesting a venue, promotion or putting him up then give Stuart a shout over on his facebook page.  He’s booked a few gigs in Brighton at the Booth Museum with Keaton Henson which should be a perfect venue and much fun.  However, it looks like they have already sold out so do check back on the ‘live’ page for more dates as they are announced.

Again, thanks everyone for giving The Butcher’s Voice the warmest of welcomes in it’s first week out in the wide world.
